FAQ / FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does a grain mill work?

L
K

The operation of a grain mill can vary depending on the specific type of mill:
Cereal feeding: The cereals are introduced into the mill via a hopper.
Grinding: The mill is equipped with hammers that rotate at high speed. These hammers crush the grains into smaller particles.
Sieving: The particles are then passed through a sieve to separate to the desired size.
Flour collection: The ground particles are collected in a container.

How is the grain grinding mill made?

L
K

Structure and Components of a Hammer Mill Feed hopper: The upper part of the mill where the grains are introduced. Grinding chamber: Contains the rotating hammers that carry out the grinding. Hammers: Metal elements mounted on a rotating shaft that crush grain. Sieve or grid: Filter that allows only particles ground to the desired size to pass through. Motor: Provides the energy needed to rotate the hammers. Discharge duct: Where the ground flour is collected.

Why use a cereal mixer?

L
K

A grain mixer is a tool used mainly in agriculture and animal husbandry to mix different types of grains and other ingredients, in order to obtain a uniform and nutritionally balanced feed for animals. Here are some reasons to use a grain mixer:

Benefits of Using a Grain Mixer Mix Uniformity:
A blender ensures that all ingredients are mixed evenly, ensuring that each portion of the feed contains the same amount of nutrients. This is crucial to ensure that all animals receive a balanced diet.

Improved Nutrition: Mixing different types of cereals and additives allows you to create a more complete and nutritionally balanced diet, improving the health and productivity of animals.

Efficiency: Using a mixer reduces the time and labor required to prepare feed compared to manual mixing, increasing operational efficiency.

Diet Customization: The mixers allow farmers to customize the composition of the feed based on the specific nutritional needs of the animals, which can vary based on the species, age, growth phase or production (milk, meat, eggs, etc.).

Waste Reduction: A uniform mix reduces the risk of some ingredients being left behind or not consumed by animals, minimizing waste.

Flexibility: Mixers can handle a variety of ingredients, from grains to oilseeds, to vitamin and mineral supplements, offering great flexibility in feed formulation.

What type of mixer to use?

L
K

Types of Grain Mixers
Screw Mixers: They use an auger (worm screw) to move and mix materials. They are effective for mixing dry and granular ingredients.

Drum Mixers: They use a rotating drum to mix materials. They are suitable for more homogeneous mixtures and are commonly used in larger plants.

Vertical Mixers: They have a vertical design with an auger that moves materials from the bottom to the top, ensuring good mixing even for small quantities of ingredients

Horizontal Mixers: They use paddles or belts within a horizontal drum to mix materials. They are particularly suitable for large volumes and complex mixtures.
